FILIPE MANU
Usually seen on the stages of the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne Festival, and Hamburg Staatsoper, New Zealand-Tongan tenor Filipe Manu will present a programme of folk songs from Italy, Tonga, Hawaii, New Zealand, and England in this rare intimate performance.
Starting with a song cycle by Paolo Tosti, Filipe’s performance will centre around a string of compositions by Queens of Polynesia, including Queen Salote of Tonga and Queen Liliuokalani of Hawaii, and English folk songs arranged by Benjamin Britten. He’ll be accompanied by Kirsty Chaplin on piano as well as classical guitarist Alexandra Whittingham.
